Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University celebrated its 33rd Youth Festival, With the Title "Bhav Gunjan Yuvak Mahotsav", from 8th to 11th October 2025, hosted by the Physical Education Department. This annual festival showcase their talents in drama, fine arts, and cultural activities. This annual festival provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase their talents in drama, fine arts, Poster-making, Quize, Rangoli, and various cultural activities, fostering creativity, teamwork, and the spirit of youthfulness. This year Approximately 949 participants from various 68 colleges participated in the various competitions.
Bhav Gunjan Yuvak Mahotsav 2025
The festival began with a Vibrant Kala Yatra on October 8, involving over 550 students from various colleges. The formal inauguration was held on October 9 at the university's amphitheater.

Kala Yatra:
The Kalayatra of Bhav Gungjan Youth Festival 2025 commences from Shamaldas Arts College, showcasing the vibrant themes of art, culture, and creativity, and concludes gracefully at Sardarnagar Circle near J.K. Sarvaiya Group of Colleges. Approximately 550 students from various colleges took part in the Kalayatra, presenting tableaux and performances that combined artistic skill with social awareness.

The Kalayatra commenced at Shamaldas Arts College under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bharat B. Ramanuj, who described the festival as a platform for discovering and celebrating hidden talents.

Glimpse of Kalayata
The Kalayatra showcased a vibrant array of themes reflecting cultural pride, social responsibility, and national spirit. Students artistically represented subjects such as Operation Sindoor, Swadeshi Bharat (Vocal for Local), and Social Media Addiction reflected the artistic and creative spirit along with social awareness.
Inauguration Ceremony: 9 October 2025
The 33rd Youth Festival of Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University (MKBU), titled “Bhavgunjan”, began with great enthusiasm on Thursday, 9th October 2024, at the University’s Amphitheater. The inauguration set the stage for four exciting days celebrating creativity, culture, and youthful enthusiasm.
Participation
This year’s festival witnessed the participation of 949 students from 66 colleges, making it a grand celebration of talent and creativity.
The inaugural event was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Bharatbhai Ramanuj, Hon. Vice-Chancellor of MKBU.
The gathering was graced by distinguished guests:
Union Minister Nimu Ben Bambhaniya, who spoke passionately about youth empowerment and entrepreneurship.
MLA Jitu Vaghani, who inspired students to embrace confidence and responsibility in shaping their future.
Niren Bhatt Renowned lyricist and scriptwriter, who shared heartfelt anecdotes from his own university days, encouraging students to learn, collaborate, and enjoy the creative journey.
The guests were warmly welcomed by Dr. Dilipsinh Gohil, Director of Physical Education, while the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Bhavesh Jani, Acting Registrar, acknowledging everyone’s efforts in making the event a success.
A Cultural Symphony: Opening Performances
The inaugural performances set a festive tone for the days ahead:
A Traditional Welcome Dance by 30 students of Bhaktraj Dada Khachar Arts and Commerce College, Gadhada, beautifully showcased Gujarat’s cultural heritage.
A soulful Kathak performance by Kalarpan Raas Academy celebrated Goddess Bhagwati through graceful choreography and devotion.
A Folk Group Singing by Radhika Mehta and Shruti Sonani from the Department of English infused the atmosphere with rhythm, joy, and regional pride.
Highlights of Dignitaries' Speeches
Jitu Vaghani (MLA); urged students to lead with enthusiasm and contribute meaningfully to society.
Nimu Ben Bambhaniya (Union Minister); highlighted India’s growing startup ecosystem, encouraging innovation and self-reliance.
Niren Bhatt (Scriptwriter & Lyricist) shared his creative journey, proving how university festivals can shape future careers.
Though the event began slightly late, the blend of tradition, art, and intellect kept the audience deeply engaged. The opening ceremony truly reflected MKBU’s vision of holistic student development nurturing talent, discipline, and cultural Pride.
Five Stages of Art
1. Amphitheater – Nr̥tya Guñjana Man̄ch
The Amphitheater emerged as the heart of rhythmic celebration, hosting dance, music, and large-group performances that blended classical depth with modern flair.
Reporting & Registration: The Amphitheater served as the central hub for participant check-ins and coordination.
Inauguration Ceremony: The official commencement of Bhavgunjan, setting a festive tone for the days ahead.
Events included:
Mimicry: Students brought laughter and originality to the stage with creative impressions and humor-filled acts.
Folk & Tribal Dance: Vibrant performances reflected Gujarat’s rich cultural heritage and India’s rural traditions.
Group Song (Indian): Harmonious renditions celebrated classical and folk mlelodies from across the nation.
Western Instrumental (Solo): Individual musicians displayed technical mastery of Western instruments.
Western Singing (Solo): Young vocalists delivered soulful solos with modern flair.
Group Song (Western): Collaborative vocal ensembles filled the venue with global rhythm and harmony.
Folk Instrument Ensemble: Traditional instruments echoed the sounds of regional identity and heritage.
Creative Choreography: Dancers blended mythology, devotion, and contemporary ideas through innovative movement.
Closing Ceremony: The stage concluded with an award ceremony, honoring talent and celebrating togetherness.
2. Atal Auditorium – Rasa Guñjana Man̄ch
The Atal Auditorium was dedicated to theatre, classical dance, and instrumental excellence, offering audiences moments of reflection and emotion.
Events included:
Skit: Short, impactful plays addressed social, cultural, and humorous themes.
One-Act Plays (1 & 2): Strong narratives explored mythological, historical, and social topics with depth and artistry.
Classical Dance: Dancers showcased the discipline and grace of India’s timeless traditions.
Classical Instrumental (Rhythm Section): Percussionists demonstrated remarkable synchronization and rhythm mastery.
Classical Instrumental (Melody Section): Melodic performances revealed students’ emotional expression and technical finesse.
3. New Court Hall – Sūra Guñjana Man̄ch
The New Court Hall resonated with vocal music, debate, and oratory, serving as a hub for intellectual and artistic dialogue.
Events included:
Sugam Geet / Light Music: Melodious performances bridged classical and contemporary styles.
Classical Vocal Music: Students showcased years of rigorous training through soulful ragas.
Vastutva: A creative thematic presentation encouraging innovative interpretation.
Debate: Thought-provoking discussions on social and political issues reflected critical thinking and persuasive skill.
4. External Department – Raṅga Guñjana Man̄ch
At the External Department, colors and creativity came alive through visual and fine arts competitions, transforming imagination into expression.
Events Included:
Instant Painting: Artists created impressive works within time limits, reflecting spontaneity and vision.
Poster Making: Visually compelling messages promoted awareness and social consciousness.
Cartooning: Satirical drawings humorously addressed current events and everyday realities.
Clay Modelling: Sculptures captured cultural motifs and artistic imagination in three dimensions.
Rangoli: Colorful designs symbolized unity, celebration, and youthful joy.
5. Department of English – Śabda Guñjana Man̄ch
The Department of English hosting literary competitions, Focus on Knowledge, Intellectual and Current topics
Events:
Quiz (Preliminary & Final): Focus on Topics Such as General Knowledge, Current affairs, History, Culture, Art, General Science and Political Science.
Events highlights
Mimicry
Participants showcased exceptional voice modulation and comic timing, captivating the audience with diverse performances.
The acts included imitations of:
- Cartoon characters with expressive voices and playful energy.
- Ancient epic figures such as Rama, Sita, Ravana,etc. bringing mythological personas to life with dramatic flair.
- Film actors and actresses, recreating iconic dialogues and mannerisms with humor and precision.
Each performance reflected keen observation, creativity, and versatility in vocal expression.
The event successfully blended humor, artistry, and performance skill, offering both entertainment and admiration for students’ talent.
The One Act Play focus on Satire, humour and Tragic situation
Dor( One Act Play): The one-act play Dor portrayed the emotional and tragic journey of Bheema and Goral, reflecting the struggles of love, loss, and destiny. It highlighted how circumstances test human emotions and relationships, revealing both pain and perseverance.
Folk Dance Performances
The folk dance segment celebrated India’s cultural vitality, rural traditions, and community spirit.
Matki Dance showcased grace and equilibrium as performers balanced earthen pots symbolizing water, femininity, and harmony with nature. The presentation evoked rasas of wonder, beauty, and serenity.
Raas Dance radiated energy and devotion, with dancers synchronizing to rhythmic beats of dandiyas, representing teamwork, joy, and cultural pride.
Creative Choreography
The Creative Choreography event at Bhavgunjan 2025 transformed the Amphitheatre into a vibrant space of rhythm, expression, and storytelling, where tradition met innovation.
Notable performances included:
Talwar Raas – A dynamic presentation that merged martial precision with rhythmic coordination, symbolizing bravery, unity, and the valor of Gujarat’s heritage.
Gujarat Heritage– A spirited dance celebrating Gujarat’s cultural identity, showcasing folk artistry, traditional attire, and pride in regional roots.
Lord Krishna’s Life – A devotional sequence portraying the divine leelas of Krishna, integrating classical and folk movements to express love, grace, and spiritual joy.
Mahabharata – The Eternal Conflict – A modern interpretation of the epic, illustrating crucial moments such as the gambling episode between the Pandavas and Kauravas and Draupadi’s vastraharan.
Music Competition
At Surgunjan Manch (New Court Hall), classical singing, instrumental performances, and debates enriched the festival’s intellectual and artistic dimension. Notable performances included Radhika Mehta (Classical Vocal) and Sandipkumar Jethava (Flute – Raag Bhupali), whose renditions evoked peace and devotion.
The competitions highlighted discipline, teamwork, and emotional connection, embodying music as a universal language of harmony.
Literary Competition
The Department of English – Shabda Gunjan Manch hosted a series of engaging academic events that encouraged critical thinking, Intellectual, and Awareness.
Quiz Competition:
In the Quiz Competition, participants Rutvi Pal, Sanket Vavadiya(Me) and Rajdeep Bavaliya Who Secure 2nd Rank.
Debate Competition
In the Debate Competition, speakers such as Shehzad Chokiya and Bhargav Makwana presented insightful arguments on contemporary issues including artificial intelligence, social structures, and developmental challenges.
Fine Arts (Lalitkala Vibhag):
Rangoli by Jyoti Mer represented themes of unity and youthfulness through detailed color patterns.
Clay Modelling by Krishna Vala depicted rural life and simplicity with creative use of form and texture.
Poster Making by Divya Paledhara and Cartooning by Shruti Sonani presented thoughtful visual messages on social and ethical issues.
Paper Collage by Vanita Baraiya used recycled materials to promote environmental awareness.

Closing ceremony
The 33rd Youth Festival – Bhavgunjan 2025 of Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University concluded with great enthusiasm, grace, and artistic brilliance. Over three vibrant days, the university campus became a lively confluence of talent, intellect, and creativity — where art met expression and learning met inspiration.
A total of 949 participants from 68 institutions showcased their skills across 27 events, representing five cultural dimensions — Nrutya (Dance), Sangeetik (Music), Ras (Drama), Rang (Fine Arts), and Shabda (Literature). From the silent power of mime and mimicry to the colorful energy of folk dances, from thought-provoking skits to expressive paintings, every performance reflected dedication, teamwork, and innovation.
Sahajanand College of Commerce and Management once again claimed the title of General Champion, marking its fourth consecutive victory, while KPES College secured the Runner-up position. With Sahajanand scoring 140 points against KPES’s 56, the results reflected consistent passion and performance.
Experience as a Participant
This year, I had the opportunity to participate in the Quiz Competition. The competition consisted of two rounds — Preliminary and Final. On 9th October, In Prelim Round The questions in this round covered a topics, including General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Political Science, History, and Literature. we secured the 5th rank and qualified for the finals.
In the Final Round, held on 10 October 2025, the format was more dynamic and challenging. It included a multimedia round featuring the recognition of famous personalities through photos, along with questions on art, culture, and Current events, Political Science. and We Secure the 2nd Rank.
Overall, it was an experience of teamwork, cooperation, and knowledge-sharing, and it was a good learning experience that strengthened both knowledge and teamwork.
Experience as a Volunteer:
As a volunteer, I assisted in participant registration, and information support. The experience taught me how to manage responsibilities, maintain clear communication, and respond quickly to changing situations. I learned to handle on-the-spot arrangements, support team decisions, and ensure smooth execution of scheduled activities. Working closely with other volunteers and coordinators improved my teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Overall, the experience strengthened my understanding of how collaborative effort and planning contribute to the success of large cultural events.
